Eye Opener

Well...haven't been here in quite a while. But I have decided that I really need a place to vent. And Facebook isn't the place. If I wanted everything that I had to say out there then I would most definitely post it there - but some things just need to be said to make me feel better - to get it off my chest.

It has recently been brought to my attention that being my friend or husband or any other relation you want to throw in there is pretty much a hassle. I'm such a hard person to deal with. I'm superficial. I don't tell anyone how I really feel. I'm this. I'm that. Please - anyone feel free to jump in and read me my pedigree.

Newsflash! I'm not perfect! I try really hard to be a good person. To do what I can for others whenever I can. But that's not good enough. No matter what is said or done fault is found with it. I've screwed up somehow. I don't try hard enough.

I am smart enough to know when to say what I feel and when to keep my mouth shut. If I said what I really felt most of the time I would probably end up talking to myself because no one would want to deal with me. Most people want the truth but when you give it to them they can't handle it. And make no mistake - I include myself in that group. Sometimes I can't handle it very well.

So I've been "dealt with" and "put up with" for the last decade of my life. That's nice to hear. My feelings on that? I'm not holding anyone hostage in my life. You want out? You all know where the damn door is - use it. I've made it on my own before and I can sure as hell do it again.

Collin Raye - Here I Come - Again!

My prayers have been answered! Collin Raye will be performing at The Turning Stone Casino this year. Ever since I missed the concert last year - thanx to my lovely children for passing their stomach bug on to me - I have been checking his tour dates to see if he was coming back. Up until last week he wasn't. Then I got the notification that he was going to be there!

Tickets went on sale at 10 am this morning and I was ready. I had the worst time with Ticketmaster - couldn't order tickets online and when I tried via telephone they said they were sold out. I will never use them again. I ended up calling the casino and I was able to nail down an awesome seat. And to top that off it cost me less to go through the casino - no surcharges or delivery fees.

I could have had a stage seat but it was an end table and there was a speaker in front of it - no thank you. I ended up with an orchestra table just to the right of center stage. Works for me! I can't wait to get pix on my digital camera. They are going to be awesome. And I plan on getting another autograph, too ;)

I've decided to quarantine myself 1 week before the concert so that there is no chance of me catching a bug. Even if I do get sick (which would be a cruel joke) I will take a bucket with me. I am NOT missing this concert - NO MATTER WHAT!

Watch out Collin cuz here I come!

NKOTB Update

Caught the guys on the Today Show yesterday and it was amazing to see how crazy the girls still go for them. I would have been doing the same thing had I been there because they are still looking good. Unfortunately they didn't perform but they will be back on that same show on May 16th for their first performance in almost 15 years! Woo hoo! I can't wait! They did play a clip of one of their songs called "Summertime" and it sounded great. It had a hint of the NKOTB we all know and I love but it also had a new feel to it as well. I think that they're new album is going to be well worth the wait. I will be at the store waiting for it to open the day the album is released :)I didn't think I'd ever see the day that NKOTB would reunite but the impossible has happened. Thank God for small miracles!

New Kids On The Block - Reunited!!!

It's about freakin' time! I was starting to wonder what a girl had to do to get her favorite boy band back! Go ahead laugh - I'll wait..... Done yet? I know that I am not the only NKOTB junkie. They were the bomb when I was growing up. My room was like a shrine to them. My wallpaper was NKOTB posters and pictures. Jordan was and still is my favorite. Still lookin' good after all these years ;) And yes I still listen to their music!

They are going to be on the Today Show tomorrow. They are releasing a new album and are going on tour again. If they come anywhere near me I will be there to see them. I was at the concert they put on in the Dome back in like 1990(although it could've been 1991 - it was along time ago)I remember that I was in 6th grade. It was my very first concert and I had a blast.

I am excited to see what new material they have come up with. I have already joined their fan club :) Please tell me that at least one of you guys shares in my excitement!!! Don't be afraid to admit it!

Welcome back Joey,Jon,Donnie,Jordan and Danny!

Nasty Germs!

I've been pretty quiet for a week or so. Haven't heard much from me. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing :) I managed to catch a nasty little bug and it took me out of commission for a few days. I am not one that runs to the dr every time I get a sniffle. I actually haven't been to a dr since I was 18.

I finally broke down and after a weekend of not being able to do anything I had my mom take me to the dr. The dr told me I had a sinus/upper respiratory infection. Figured as much. I thought I might have had the flu at one point because I was just laying on the couch and couldn't do anything - which is so not me. She gave me a rx and said I should be feeling better in a day or two.

Even though I felt like death I stll tried to do my daily routines. I clean at least twice a day - sometimes more. I should probably go to the dr for that to get medicated for my obsessive/compulsiveness. :)I should've stopped when I almost passed out but I didn't. The house wasn't going to clean itself!

The meds seemed to work. When the hubby woke up the other morning and saw me actually moving around he said,"Am I getting my wife back?" Must've missed me. I still have a little touch of this bug but I feel much better. At my worst point I wanted to curl up and die. I would have rather been in labor than dealing with this infection! And yes, I do mean that!

Little Bit of Everything

I feel like I have been neglecting my poor blog. I have just been so busy taking care of gram and everything else that I normally do that I just haven't had the time. So I figured I would just throw all recent events into one post.

Gram is back in the hospital. She has been there since last Wednesday. Her kidneys failed again. She has so much output from her bag that she has a hard time staying hydrated. She has a new GI dr and he's great. He has run so many tests to try to find out what is going on with her. One of the tests he did was for potassium and she had extremely elevated levels of that. So much so that a few drs said that she should be dead. I can't tell you how many times I have heard that statement in the last 6 months. I am so afraid that one of these times she will run out of should be's. If she could get the reversal done on her bag that would eliminate a lot of the problems she is having. That is something the drs are getting together to figure out - how soon it can be done. She is still waiting on a few tests which should be in tomorrow and then we will see when she can go home.

Kids are doing great. I had their conferences recently and they are all doing an exceptional job. Both girls are reading at two grade levels above the grade they are in. Jordan is excelling in science which I have to admit I was a bit shocked to hear. I didn't realize that he liked it so much. Their teachers love them and raved about what great kids they are. It's so nice to hear that especially when I know what devils they can be :)

Christmas is coming fast and furious. I have to do double duty where shopping is concerned because gram can't get out to do a lot of hers. I am close to being finished - maybe another trip or two. I do spoil my children because I believe that they deserve it. But they also know what Christmas is all about. That is how I grew up. My brother and I knew what the real meaning of Christmas was and at the same time we were given plenty. We knew to be very appreciative of what we had and we always were. We always celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with our entire family. And we still do. I see nothing wrong with spoiling the kids as long as they know to appreciate what they have. And that they remember the true meaning of the holiday.

Guess there isn't too much else going on. Just the usual trips to the dr and the grocery store or wherever else I need to go. Wait - I take that back. Pat and I do have something pretty important going on but I can't post about it just yet. Soon though - I promise. Don't mean to leave you hanging like that but I have to...for now.

Happy Anniversary

Just wanted to wish my hubby a happy anniversary. We have been together for 8 years and married for 3 of them. We have been through our ups and downs and through hell and back but have managed to stay strong and stay together.

I couldn't ask for a better husband. He works his butt off to take care of our family and see that we have everything that we need. He puts us first no matter what. He is a wonderful father and the kids love him to pieces.

Sometimes I wonder how I ever got so lucky....... Happy Anniversary, babe. Love you!

I'm Back!

It feels so good to be back! I have been MIA for over a month. My computer decided to die on me so I haven't been able to get online. It is in the process of being fixed,if that is even possible, but I couldn't take it anymore. So I had my brother buy me a laptop from Staples on Friday. I got an awesome deal with it being Black Friday.

I've missed everybody and I have a lot of catching up to do - both reading blogs and writing my own. Hopefully I can get to that in the next few days. Just wanted to give you all a heads up in case you were wondering what happened to me!

In Loving Memory

Daniel Jude Brown
May 11,1978 - September 23,1995

This post is dedicated to my best friend - Daniel Jude Brown - who took his own life 12 years ago today. He was a sweet, caring, funny, loving, warm guy. We always had fun when we were together. Some of my favorite times with him were spent jet skiing on Cross Lake. Or trying to ride on the spokes of his bike. We used to have so much fun playing pool, too. And we could always just sit and talk. He was such a special person and I miss him more than I can describe. My whole world was turned upside down when I found out that he was gone. It took me years to stop blaming myself for not being able to stop him. I still feel a twinge of guilt every now and then but nothing like I used to. I don't believe that time heals all wounds. I just think it makes them hurt a little less but it never heals them.

Dan,I miss you so much. I wish you were here. I can only imagine how different my life would have been if you hadn't died. But I can't dwell on that. My life is good now. I have 4 wonderfully intelligent and beautiful children and a husband that busts his butt to take care of us. You would be proud of me. I know that you check in on me from time to time and that is such a comfort. I still have my moments when I just break down and cry because I miss you so much. The only thing that I can take comfort in is knowing that I will see you again, one sweet day. Until then I have to take care of myself and my family. I love you and I miss you,Danner.

One Sweet Day

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say
And now it's too late to hold you
'Cause you've flown away
So far away

Never had I imagined
Living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me
It keeps me alive
Alive

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Darling, I never showed you
Assumed you'd always be there
I took your presence for granted
But I always cared
And I miss the love we shared

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day
Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as I pray

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say

Gram's Surgery

It's official - gram is going to have her hysterectomy. We have a tentative date of August 16. So from now until then I have to run her all over creation to get tests done and get releases from her different drs.

They are going to do the traditional surgery which is cutting her right down the middle (or wherever they cut you) versus how my mom had it done which was through her belly button. The dr's reasoning for that was that he wanted to be able to see if there was something going on that maybe they had missed. He couldn't give me an answer as to why this is happeneing to her. He said that they would have to examine the uterus once it's out and run tests on it. He also said they may never know what caused the bleeding. That's reassuring let me tell you. He also said that most times when you have bleeding at this age it's from cancer but they did at least two biopsies and said that they were both benign. Their tests could be wrong and that really scares me.

I am waiting to hear from her heart dr and she has to hear from her regular dr so we can set up two more appointments. We have already got a couple set. Her surgery is scheduled for very early in the morning so we have to be at the hospital at 6 am. Thankfully the surgery fell on the week my mom has vacation so that she can be with my kids. I know my gram is scared and so am I. I tried to lighten her mood about the whole thing and tell her that she was ruining our plans for our yard sale for next month. I did get her to laugh if only for a few minutes.

I'll keep you all posted about things. Thanx for the prayers. :)

Please...Not Again

I thought that things were going well with my gram. She was away from home and going through hell for almost 6 weeks. When she finally came home she started feeling better. The last 2 weeks she has been complaining that her back has been bothering her but had been attributing that to the weather. She has awful arthritis. A little over a week ago she told me that she was having some bleeding again. The fourth D&C and hormone pills were supposed to have stopped that. I talked to her this morning and she tells me that for the last two days she has been bleeding heavily. She made an appt. with the dr for Wednesday. I am so frustrated right now because I don't understand why they can't stop this. What is the problem?! Why is she still bleeding at her age?! Why aren't they fixing this?! I am so afraid that we are going to have a repeat of her last ordeal. I know that there is no way that she can handle something like that again and quite frankly, neither can I. I hope for the dr.'s sake that he has some answers for us on Wednesday. I am teetering on being extremely angry that this is happening again. Something needs to be done to fix this right now - and fix it the right way. Please keep my gram in your prayers again. I will keep you posted.

For Her

I picked this song from a cd that was made for me a few years ago by a very special person. The cd was titled "Friends Always".

Looks like your feelin’ like
The rain won’t ever stop
Life’s left you standing there
One against the odds
Fro now on you need to know
You don’t have to stand alone

When the world turns you in circles
And the wind is at your face
When you need somewhere to run to
I know a place
If you want someone who’s willing
To lay down their heart
Someone to dry your tears
I’m here
I volunteer

A shoulder, a caring voice
To tell you it’s ok
Arms meant for holding you
Whenever your afraid
I’ve got that and more to spare
Just say the word and I’ll be there

When the world turns you in circles
And the wind is at your face
When you need somewhere to run to
I know a place
If you want someone who’s willing
To lay down their heart
Someone to dry your tears
I’m here
I volunteer

It's Good to be Back!

I'm back everyone! Had a little lapse of no internet service but it's up and running again. I was without it for 6 days! My husband asked me if I was going to be ok without it or if I was going to have a nervous breakdown. He thinks he's funny. I think I did just fine.

I switched back to Time Warner. I was very dissatisfied with Verizon. I never received a bill (not that I'm complaining about that) and when I would call to have one sent to me I would be transferred from dept to dept. I was eventually told that it would be on my next bill. It never was. I even emailed them and that didn't help so I said forget it. I called Time Warner and got my Road Runner back. A few people that I've talked to told me that I never should have gotten Verizon in the first place. They were nothing but trouble. They were right.

Live and learn. I am just happy to have my internet back. I was starting to go through withdrawal. :)

A Little Boy Lost

I wasn't surprised to find out that Chris Benoit's son was mentally retarded. I could tell by his pictures that something wasn't right. Having grown up with three uncles that are mentally retarded I guess I have developed a sense about that type of thing. I think that it's terrible that the Benoit's were too ashamed and/or emabarrassed of their son to tell people about him. His friends and co-workers were clueless. That is where a lot of their problems began.

Some people can handle something like that and some can't. Obviously neither of them were the type that could handle it. Their life would have been much easier if they had confided in people about Daniel. There are so many services out there that could've helped with the many aspects of his care. They didn't have to take this on all by themselves.

Fragile X is a rare syndrome. One of my uncles,Edward, happens to have that. I do realize that everyone is different but Edward does many things that you and I do. He graduated from high school. He works. He has been employed at the same place for about 14 years. He cooks. He cleans. He does laundry. He leads a pretty good life.

Whether the Benoit's were afraid that he was going to be too much care or not I cannot say. All that little boy would have needed to grow was the love and support from his parents. If they would have stopped being selfish and thought about Daniel for even a second, they would've seen that it wasn't as bad as they thought.

I do understand how much care a special needs person can be. I also understand that it takes a very special human being to take on the responsibility of caring for them and making sure that they have every need of theirs met. Unfortunately it seems that the Benoit's were not those type of people. And that is very sad because the one that suffered the most from it was Daniel.

Why?!?

I guess my theory was wrong. Chris Benoit did indeed kill his family and then himself. A news conference from this afternoon stated that sometime Friday nite he strangled his wife. Sometime Saturday he asphyxiated his son and then sometime during the late hours of Saturday and early hours Sunday he hung himself in his downstairs weightroom.

I cannot wrap my mind around why someone would do such a thing. I know that it sounds cliche but he didn't seem like the type of man that would do somethihng like that. Just last nite on the WWE tribute show his fellow wrestlers were saying what a great dad he was. He was such a family man. What could have caused him to snap?

I am very upset by the way that he chose to commit suicide. Any time I hear about someone hanging themselves it brings back awful memories for me. My best friend hung himself almost 12 years ago. It was the most horrific thing I have ever seen. I will never get that image out of my mind. I will never get over what he did. To this day a simple song or memory can make me break down and cry. I know that people say that time heals but I think it's b.s. Hasn't worked for me.

I know that his friends and co-workers are going to be angry with him for what he did. They'll wonder why he didn't come to them for help with whatever was going on. They'll be mad at him for leaving. They'll feel guilty because they will think that there must have been something that they could've done to prevent this. It's an awful burden to carry for those that he left behind. Believe me,I speak from experience.

Who knows whether we will ever know why he did this. Who knows if he knew why he did this. Sometimes things like this leave more questions than it does answers. I just want to know why...

A Sad Goodbye

Most of you know that I am a huge WWE fan. Have been for a very long time. Over the years many great wrestlers have lost their lives due to various circumstances. Today was no exception. WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and his son were found dead in their home today. Police gave no details as to how this happened. I'm sure there will be many theories floating around. My own personal theory would be a home invasion. I honestly cannot see this as a murder-suicide. Then again,I could be wrong.

Chris Benoit was a very experienced wrestler and very good at what he did. He knew how to entertain. He had millions of fans around the world. Not too long ago he lost his very dear friend and fellow wrestler,Eddie Guerrero. I remember watching the tribute special that the WWE put on in his honor. Now I am doing the same for Chris. It is a very sad thing.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I hope that they get the answers that they are looking for. Thank you for the many wonderful performances that you gave and all the effort that you put into your work. You will be missed. May Chris, his wife and his son rest in peace.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to me! Today I turn 28. Man,am I getting old! My husband asked me if I was going to start lying about my age and I told him that I was still in my 20's so I don't have to yet. I'm not planning on doing anything exciting today. I will probably just go over to my gram's for the day. I don't make a big fuss over my birthday. To me it's just another day. The hubby's working today (which isn't anything out of the ordinary) so we didn't plan anything. We don't get out much with having 4 kids so we just stay home and celebrate with them. They all made me the cutest birthday cards. They're so thoughtful! Well, there goes another year.......
