Say What?
Let me clarify this for all of you that don't understand the English language and take everything personally especially when it had nothing whatsoever to do with you or your children...
I was speaking of MY experience with that certain program/school. I was not speaking about ALL Headstart programs or anyone that has gone to them. I was specifically talking about this ONE school and MY daughter.
If you take offense to the word "issues" then that is your problem. The context that it was used in had nothing to do with special needs. I know all about people with special needs considering the fact that I grew up with 3 uncles that are mentally retarded to different degrees. I am very involved with them - always have been and always will be. None of you are in that position or know what that is/was like.
Obviously I didn't clarify what "issues" meant either. I was being asked questions about domestic abuse and child abuse and other things of that nature. Questions basically asking if we had a place to live. Apparently I didn't go into enough detail for some of you.
I didn't know what Headstart was all about and that is why I looked into it. Their criteria is not the same as WICs. You make it sound like an embarrassing thing to have help like that and you so quickly forget that you had the same kind of help. I will be the first to admit that we aren't well off but I am certainly not ashamed to get help for my children. My husband busts his ass at work everyday and I choose to stay home and raise my children because I will not have someone else doing my job.
I guess the point to all of this is that first if you don't know me then you need to keep your mouth shut. The second-hand information you receive is wrong. Secondly last time I checked this was MY blog and I have the right to my own opinions. If you want to make up your own conclusions from what you read and they happen to be wrong then again - your problem. Muust be my mistake for not making what I was saying abundantly clear. Responsibility
Can someone tell me how a person that takes little to no responsibility for his child can say that i'm irresponsible? Let me set the scene for you...Jordan had his playoff game rescheduled for Sunday because it was rained out on Saturday. I had to go to my mom's to set up for another yard sale and Sunday was the only day I could do it as the sale is this weekend. Surprisingly his father said that he would pick him up and take him to his game. I told Jordan to call me when he got home. He did and he asked me when I would be home. I said it would be at least 2-3 hours. I heard him tell someone that and asked who he was talking to. He said his father wanted to know and it sounded to me like he was having a fit. So I told Jordan that he could either stay home or his father could drop him off at my mom's. He did end up dropping Jordan off. I asked Jordan if he wanted to come and he said no and that his father made him. His father told him that I was irresponsible for leaving him home alone because he is too young.
Are you kidding me?!?! He is the LAST person that should ever be calling anyone - especially me - irresponsible. I am the one that makes sure that he has clothes to wear and food to eat. I am the one that makes sure that he has a roof over his head. I am the one that goes to all of his school and sporting events. I am the one that takes him to the dr when he's sick. The list goes on and on. Want to know what his father does? He picks him up most weekends and works half of that time. He doesn't buy him anything he needs. He doesn't show up at school or sporting events like he should. The support he pays shouldn't even be called that because when you get right down to it what he pays in a week doesn't even cover the cost of 3 square meals for one day! Basically he does nothing. And he is calling me irresponsible?!
Jordan is 11 yrs old. I trust him to stay home by himself for a few hours. He has done it before and he will do it again. He is a trustworthy kid and until he gives me a reason not to I will trust him to stay home when I'm not there.
Not only does what he said piss me off but he didn't even say it to me - he said it to Jordan! Grow a set and tell ME what you have to say. Don't tell Jordan in hopes that it will get back to me. Why are you even putting him in the middle of it? A little irresponsible I would say. I guess I should be used to it because he never has had the balls to say anything to my face. I hear what he says through Jordan,his mother or his wife. And of course with the big mouth I have I don't have any problem telling either his mother or his wife what I think of him or them if need be. I wonder if there will ever come a time when Bill can grow up,act his age and be a responsible parent. That's probably just wishful thinking.Labels: kids, opinion

Live from Rockefeller Plaza...
It's New Kids On The Block!!! That's right! The reunion that I have waited almost 15 years for has finally happened. Friday morning NKOTB performed for the first time in over a decade on The Today Show. It was amazing! I only wish I could have been there in person to see it. It was crazy to see all of their fans screaming and yelling for them. Why is that so crazy? Because most of them were my age :) And I would have been whooping it up,too!
The audience was the largest audience that The Today Show has ever had. Some people slept in the streets for 2 days just to be able to see them! Now that's what I call a fan! They sang some of their old hits and then sang their new single "Summertime". I can't wait to get their new cd. I think I have to wait a few months until it's released. I sat there in awe watching them sing and dance. I felt like a kid again. It even brought me to tears. I wasn't alone in that though because I saw many women in the audience doing the same thing.
I know that not everybody likes or has liked NKOTB. And that's fine...that's your loss! I know my girl Shelle is a NKOTB fan so we'll stick togther. We'll have to watch their tour schedule and try to go to a concert together. Most if not all of their shows are sold out. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll come close to us,Shelle. Another Dome concert would be nice :)

Pizza Hut Ban
Michelle,I have decided to join your ban on Pizza Hut. After last nite's escapade I am in full agreement with you. We ordered pizza for lunch yesterday and by 11 pm it was coming back up with a vengence. I started not feeling well around 9:30 pm and Pat said I was probably just overtired from demolishing the livingroom. I knew that it wasn't a bug because the last two times one was floating around it missed me - at least the puking part did. The only other alternative was food poisoning and I knew that it had to come from the pizza because that was all I had eaten that day.
I ended up praying to the porcelain god most of the nite. I took a bowl downstairs with me because I was getting weak and I knew that I wouldn't make it upstairs. At this point I have to say that I have the world's best husband. I ended up getting sick a few times while I was downstairs and he came right down to check on me and empty my bowl for me. He even brought me down a damp towel for my head and took my temp to make sure I wasn't running a fever. He must really love me if he'll clean up after me like that :)
I didn't sleep most of the nite. I was sick until around 4 am and I finally decided to take a Zofran. Whoever invented that was a genius. I went to bed after that but was awake quite a bit because I was so thirsty. I kept drinking water all the while praying that it would stay down. Thankfully it did. I am feeling cruddy today so the hubby told me to take it easy. I have tried to but the housework doesn't do itself. Shh!!! Don't tell! I hope that by tomorrow I will be feeling much better. I have softball practices and games to get to this weekend.

Super Bowl XLII
Well,they did it. I don't know how but they did it. The Giants beat the Patriots to become Super Bowl XLII Champions. In my opinion it was a miracle. Ask them to do it again and I bet that they couldn't. Like I had said - I didn't watch the game. I caught the score when it was 3-7. When I figured the game was over I flipped to check the score and there was a minute left. The Pats were winning so I figured that was it. I sat there in amazement as the Giants pulled it off.
Fortunately I didn't have to listen to the hubby screaming and yelling because he had to work. But as soon as the Giants won I could hear all the guys at the shop screaming and cheering for their team. All but 2 or 3 guys that Pat works with are Giants fans. I called Sal and left him a message congratulating him on their win. I figured if I got to him before he got to me it would take some of the fun out of it for him. Pat called me a few minutes later and it sounded like he was losing his voice. I let him have his excitement and happiness - it was the least I could do. I could've talked smack to him all nite but I decided not to. Good thing I love him :)
It's hard to believe that football season is over. It felt like it went so fast. I am already waiting with bated breath for next season to start. With that I will leave the Giants and their fans with this...Watch out G-men because the Boys are coming for YOU! Dallas will win Super Bowl XLIII!Labels: opinion, sports

It's All Over
Well football season is officially over! There is no point in watching the Superbowl because I hate both teams. Neither of them should be there. But there isn't anything that can be done about that.
My team had the chance to get that far but blew it. The interception thrown in the end zone during the final seconds of the game sealed their fate. Green Bay got their chance to play at home like Favre wanted. He didn't want to go to Dallas because he has a problem with winning there. His problem? He can't win there! I do feel better about the way my team lost because it only came down to that one play. Green Bay had multiple opportunities to win last nite and they couldn't pull it off.
Like all the teams that don't make it to the Superbowl, their fans say "there's always next year." What else can we say? Whining about it won't change anything. It makes you feel better for a bit but that's the extent of it.
I had a guy come up to me the other day and tell me that I shouldn't be wearing my Cowboys sweatshirt. They were done for the season. I told him that he was right - they were done for the season. But I am NOT a fairweather fan. I don't jump on the bandwagon of the winning team. I am a TRUE Cowboys fan - win or lose. And I represent my team - win or lose. He said he had to respect that and before he walked away he wished my team luck for next year. After that conversation I got to thinking about how many people jump on the bandwagon when a team gets to the Superbowl. It's pathetic really - especially when they're not a sports fan and don't follow the game in the first place. I see nothing wrong in rooting for another team if your own doesn't make it. After all,it's part of the fun of the sport. I can't do that this year due to the rivalry I have with my hubby. I hope they both lose! :)

Yes,it hurts. It was a damn close game. Romo and the boys couldn't pull it off. I think if they hadn't had as many penalties as they did it would've been a different outcome. But what's done is done. No use crying over it. There is always next year. Most people that jump on Romo forget that he is a rookie QB. This is his first full season as QB. And I think he has done a great job. I couldn't believe the reaction from T.O. at the news conference. The man was in tears!! T.O.!! I almost liked him there for a second. Thought maybe he actually had a heart. He didn't want everyone blaming Romo for their loss. "It was a team loss" were his exact words.
As for the opposite side of things - Sal tried to call but I wouldn't answer the phone. I was in a rotten mood and some nasty things probably would have come out of my mouth and my gram and the kids were there so I had to censor myself. The hubby tried to call twice and I didn't answer either. I told gram that I hoped no one was dying because I wasn't answering the phone. I must say that when he came home he didn't say a word. Just told me that he loved me. I 'm sure he was screaming inside. He knows better though. I would've knocked his teeth down his throat if he had opened his mouth :) We take football season very seriously in this house!
It's on to Green Bay next week for the Giants. I have a feeling that Green Bay will have no problem with them. So Dean and Sara - good luck!!!

Playoffs Week 1
Dallas had a bye week this Sunday. They will return to action next week at home against the Giants. What fun that will be. We have played and beat them twice this year. Guess they want to be humiliated again. No problem - we can accomodate them. I know I'll have to listen to the hubby run his mouth all week about how fired up the Giants are and how they will beat Dallas. I'll just let him run off at the mouth and then watch him cry when his precious team gets beat for a third time! I was kind of hoping that Tampa Bay would win because Dallas hasn't had the chance to play them this year. It won't really seem like a playoff game because Dallas has played the Giants already. It was a game that Dallas didn't have to win and obviously they didn't try. They rested all their injured guys and even though Romo played until the 3rd quarter my Boys just didn't feel the need to win. And I would have to agree with that decision. There was really no point in trying to win the game and risk injury to the few 1st string guys that did play. They are in the playoffs and have homefield advantage and have a bye week coming up. The injured guys have time to rest so that they can continue on strong in their quest to win the Superbowl.
I am now going to do something that I will never ever do again....I am going to give props to the Giants for a game well played against the Patriots. Yes,you heard me right - I said the Giants played a good game. I wasn't going to watch it because it didn't interest me in the least but when the hubby got home from work he wanted me to watch the game with him so I did. I hate the Giants(conference rivalry)but I hate the Patriots even more. My hatred for the Pats comes from the fact that they cheated and were allowed to get away with it. Their "punishment" wasn't anything but a slap on the wrist - a $500,000 fine and they lost their first round draft pick for next season. It certainly didn't send a message that there would be harsh consequences for anyone caught cheating They should have automatically been given a loss for that game. I will argue with anyone that wants to say that they were undefeated this season because they weren't. The Giants should have had that game,as much as it pains me to say that. There were lousy penalty calls against the Giants and some that weren't called against the Patriots. The Patriots threw a fit when the Giants had the lead over them and they began to do what they do best - cheat. One of their guys even tried to poke out Brandon Jacobs' eye! And there was a ref right there and he never threw a flag. But hey,I guess that's what happens when you try to beat an "undefeated" team and the NFL. The NFL wanted the Pats to win because that means big bucks in their pocket from the sales of "Undefeated Patriots" merchandise. Makes me sick.
There was one consolation...at least it wasn't up to my team to stop them in the end. After all that being said I need to go wash the nasty taste out of my mouth from talking nice about the Giants. Never again.....Labels: opinion, sports

I wasn't able to watch the game this week because it was on the NFL network and Time Warner doesn't carry it. But that's ok - I just kept checking the score online. Dallas' win this week and Greenbay's loss to the Bears(ha ha)has clinched homefield advantage for Dallas. And it also means that Greenbay may have to go back through Dallas to continue forward. Good luck with that one cheeseheads! We have Washington next week which is a pointless game and then we have a bye week. The second week of January Dallas goes head to head with the wild card winner - whoever that may be.
After over a decade of ever-changing QBs I think Dallas has finally found their fit in Romo. The defense is phenomenal and the offense ain't too shabby either :) It's been a long time coming.Labels: opinion, sports

Well,Dallas never showed up for the game last nite. I'm not quite sure where they were. What an awful game!!! I don't know what went wrong with my Boys last nite. TO couldn't catch the ball. I think he may have caught 1 - maybe. And I think Romo was too worried about his skank girlfriend being there in the audience. He should've been worried about his performance. Ah well,what can you do. I am a fan - through the good and the bad. Chalk it up to a bad week and we'll put it behind us and move on to next week.
And I have to add that the Giants are pretty much done for the season. My hubby told me that Shockey broke his leg and I tried not to laugh because he was pretty pissed. I told him there's always next year - ha ha :)Labels: opinion, sports

NFC East Champions!
After today's win over the Detroit Lions,Dallas has become the NFC East Champions! It's been a long time coming. They haven't had that title since 1998. Goes to show how valuable a good QB is. After going through at least 7 since Aikman retired Dallas has finally found its star in Tony Romo. Granted he is far from perfect but he's the best we've had since Aikman. And I guess since he is so good we can overlook his taste in women - Jessica Simpson - puhleeze!!
Dallas is now 12-1. It was a nailbiter until the end. The game wasn't on regular tv so I went to my uncle's and we watched it online. We did get to see the last 31 seconds on tv though because they switched to the Dallas game after the Giants beat the Eagles - which was a lucky win since Philly missed the field goal to tie it up. You should have seen us fly down the stairs when we heard the announcers say they were headed to Detroit to pick up that game. Dallas was trailing 21-27 and with 18 seconds left Romo threw to Witten for the winning TD. Sweet victory!!!
Philly comes to Dallas next week. Then comes Carolina and Washington. Then it's on to the playoffs with homefield advantage. And if all goes well it's on to the Superbowl!!!Labels: opinion, sports

Well,well,well. I do believe that I did tell a certain someone(Dean)that the Cowboys were going to beat the Packers. What do you have to say for yourself now?! I know that you're not a Packers fan - you just didn't want the Cowboys to win. Too bad!!! Dallas won!! We're on our way to the Superbowl baby!
I wasn't able to watch the game because it was aired on the NFL network which is only available via satellite. Thank god for sports bars and my uncle Todd. He called me every quarter with updates. We have this little tradition where he will call me when he is at a game that I can't be at or watching a game that I can't. Every time he has done that Dallas has won their game. We got something lucky going on there :)
I heard that Favre was taken out in the second quarter. Poor baby. The guy is getting too old to be tossing around the pigskin.

A Little Boy Lost
I wasn't surprised to find out that Chris Benoit's son was mentally retarded. I could tell by his pictures that something wasn't right. Having grown up with three uncles that are mentally retarded I guess I have developed a sense about that type of thing. I think that it's terrible that the Benoit's were too ashamed and/or emabarrassed of their son to tell people about him. His friends and co-workers were clueless. That is where a lot of their problems began.
Some people can handle something like that and some can't. Obviously neither of them were the type that could handle it. Their life would have been much easier if they had confided in people about Daniel. There are so many services out there that could've helped with the many aspects of his care. They didn't have to take this on all by themselves.
Fragile X is a rare syndrome. One of my uncles,Edward,happens to have that. I do realize that everyone is different but Edward does many things that you and I do. He graduated from high school. He works. He has been employed at the same place for about 14 years. He cooks. He cleans. He does laundry. He leads a pretty good life.
Whether the Benoit's were afraid that he was going to be too much care or not I cannot say. All that little boy would have needed to grow was the love and support from his parents. If they would have stopped being selfish and thought about Daniel for even a second,they would've seen that it wasn't as bad as they thought.
I do understand how much care a special needs person can be. I also understand that it takes a very special human being to take on the responsibility of caring for them and making sure that they have every need of theirs met. Unfortunately it seems that the Benoit's were not those type of people. And that is very sad because the one that suffered the most from it was Daniel.Labels: opinion, personal
A New Twist to a Sad Story
This whole tragedy surrounding Chris Benoit and his family just keeps getting stranger and stranger. The latest news is that someone posted info to Wikipedia that the reason that Chris missed a show in Texas was because he was dealing with the death of his wife. This was posted 13-14 hours before the bodies were discovered. After tracing the origin site of the post it is believed that it came from Stamford,CT. That is where the WWE headquarters is located. They don't know the IP address from which this post came but a lawyer for WWE said that Chris' fellow wrestlers didn't receive the weird texts from Chris until a few hours after this post appeared. Could this possibly get any more baffling?
I am wondering what part,if any,Nancy's ex-husband Kevin Sullivan plays in this whole thing. Chris met Nancy back when he was wrestling for WCW. At the time she was with Kevin Sullivan. Long story short,Chris took Nancy away from Kevin. They even played it out on the show as one of the storylines. Kevin was furious. From what I understand it got pretty ugly between them. Kevin was someone that you didn't want to mess with. He was crazy. And that wasn't just his wrestling persona.
I find it strange that his name popped up in connection with the death of another WWE star,Sheri Martel. She was known as "Scary Sheri" back in the day. Her death on June 15,2007 is under investigation. Police are saying that it wasn't foul play but she didn't die of natural causes either. Ok,then what killed her? What part did Kevin play in all of this? Did he have any part in what happened with the Benoit's? Just something to think about.Labels: news, opinion, sports
