Football Week 7

DALLAS 24
MINNESOTA 14

Yup..we're back!!! Romo found his confidence again and we are back on top baby! Although the game wasn't on tv(how dare they!)I did catch some highlights and the blocked field goal attempt and return by Pat Watkins for a touchdown was sweet! Dallas heads into their bye week 6-1 ;)

GIANTS 33
SAN FRANCISCO 15

Didn't watch the game - wouldn't even if I was bored. Giants did win but I do believe that they have a tough schedule ahead of them. They may and they not - that's just what the hubby says to cover himself in case they go on a losing streak. New England looms in their future as does another meeting with Dallas. Chalk those two in their loss column :)

House Guest

Gram left the hospital yesterday and went home. She will be there until the end of this week and then she is coming to stay at my house so that I can take care of her. I refuse to let her go back to a nursing home. I promised her in a conversation that we had way before all this started that I would never let her live in a nursing home if I could help it. And as long as I am still breathing I intend to keep that promise.

I have quite a bit of rearranging to do today. Jordan is going to be moving into my office so that gram can have his room. My office will be temporarily scattered between my bedroom and my livingroom. I am hoping that when I move the computer that I am able to hook it back up the right way. If you don't hear from me for a while that means I have had to call the cable company to come fix it and they can take up to 2 weeks to get to you. Cross your fingers!!!

It will be nice to have gram here. If I'm not at home I am with her. It will be a welcome change because for the last 3 weeks I have been driving all over creation. I have had to take my sister to school in the morning and then pick her up in the afternoon. There's been dr appts and hospital visits. And then there is just the everyday trips to the store or wherever I need to go. So it will be nice to just stay put for a while. And I know the kids are going to love having her here.

Hopefully she won't have anymore problems and she will just get better. Drs said that they think her kidney failure was caused by a med that she was taking for the neuropathy in her legs and feet. No more of that stuff! They also put her on a mix of Metamucil and Immodium to regulate the output of her bag. Seems to be working so far. I guess the only other issue she had was finding out that her incision wasn't as healed as we thought. A piece of skin had grown over part of the opening. They had to burn the skin off and then pack the open area. A day before she left the hospital another part of the incision popped open because she was being hauled around so much. It bled some but she seems to be doing ok. And lastly she still has a bed sore on the tip of her tailbone. It makes sitting very painful. The dressing fell off at one point during the nite and yesterday when we were getting ready to leave they finally covered it. But the damage was already done. Part of it was open and bleeding again. Now tell me,hospitals are supposed to help you not hurt you right?

She will be in good hands once she gets here. I will take care of her and get her better. No more screwing around....

Football Week 6

DALLAS 27
NEW ENGLAND 48

All good things come to an end. I knew that an undefeated season was wishful thinking - hasn't been done since the Dolphins in the early 70's. Romo went into Sundays game intimidated. I guess we need to remember that this is his first full season as an NFL QB. Dallas put up a good fight but lost in the end. Dallas will be alright and we're still headed to the Superbowl ;)

GIANTS 31
ATLANTA 10

Didn't watch this game - at least until the husband came home and changed the channel on me therefore taking his life into his hands. He's not so much worried about getting to the Superbowl as he is winning the NFC East championship. Dallas is in 1st place for that title but the Giants are right behind them. He thinks they have a chance...ha.

Back to the Hospital

Someone want to cut my gram a break?!? Yesterday she went back to the hospital because she was dehydrated. She hasn't been feeling well for a few days so I made an appt for her to see the dr on Friday. But when her nurse came to change her bandages yesterday he could tell something wasn't right and he called an ambulance.

To back track for a second she has had the shakes for almost a week. Nothing constant but every now and then. The nurse that usually comes to take care of her said it was just her muscles starting to work again. My mom told that to the dr at the hospital and he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He said that was the first sign of dehydration. That nurse is a jackass! On top of that she hasn't been peeing as much as she should be so she told that to the nurse. Her response - some of it could be coming out through your bag. What?!? I'm no nurse but that didn't sound right to me. Guess what? She was wrong again!! Gram has been diagnosed with acute kidney failure. You expect a "nurse" to know what the hell she is talking about and since you don't have a medical degree you have to assume that they are right. Like I'll ever listen to her again.

I went to visit her today and the kidney specialist said that she was doing better. They have given her tons of fluids and are going to continue to do so. He said that her kidneys were starting to function properly and if they keep up that way she won't have to have dialysis. They have run a bunch of tests to find out what went wrong because she has been drinking like crazy so she shouldn't be dehydrated. She looked a lot better today and hopefully if all goes well she should be home by the weekend.

This woman has gone through hell since May of this year. I think it's time she was given a reprieve.

God IS a Cowboys fan!

Now that was a football game! Not in the sense that it was 2 great teams playing a great game but in the sense that Dallas pulled it out in the final 28 seconds for a win and kept their undefeated record. I will be the first to admit that my team sucked last nite. I think Dallas went into this game thinking that it was going to be a breeze (and it should have been) but they weren't expecting the Bills to be that fired up. Last nite's game was the first Monday Nite Football game for the Bills in 13 years. That coupled with the fact that they can't beat the Cowboys - especially in a Superbowl - made the Bills think that they could come out on top. In all actuality, they should have. Romo threw 6 picks. He was so off his game but he got it together when it really counted and the game was ours. And our rookie kicker proved himself not once but twice in a row by kicking the game winning 53 yard field goal.

I could have experienced this whole thing first hand because my uncle and brother went to Buffalo to see the game. He had an extra ticket and I could have gone but I didn't have anywhere for Hadlei to go. I also had to be with my gram while my mom did a few things and I am the only one that's available so... My uncle called me just before the game started and told me that I was his good luck charm because every time he goes to a game he calls me and Dallas has won every time. Last nite was no exception. He said that it took me long enough and I said that I had to make the game worth while :) He called me after the game and we were both screaming even though it was after midnite. He said that he hoped I knew that he was the only one that he could call that would appreciate it and I knew it. I love that man! He said that the Bills fan were talking so much crap and he would just say that the game wasn't over yet. As soon as the Cowboys won he said that it was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. I watched some of the people leave the stadium and they were all hanging their heads. My uncle also said that he has never seen a stadium empty so fast.

After all that went on it that game last nite I can honestly say that I definitely believe that God IS a Cowboys fan. They aren't called "America's Team" for nothing.

Sicky Poo's

I took my littlest monster to the dr this morning because she has been fighting a nasty cold for the last 2 weeks. She has gone through at least one bottle of medicine and it hasn't touched it. She has had a barky cough and runny nose. My gram said that I should take her because she had been dealing with it long enough and the meds obviously weren't helping. She figured she had to have something other than a cold. As usual, gram was right - she always is. The dr said Hadlei has walking pneumonia. Nice! Her right lung is full. She gave us a script for Zithromax and I have to take her back in a week. I was pretty surprised to hear the diagnosis because I always thought that a fever was involved if you had pneumonia. Learn something new everyday.

I took Shae in to see the dr,too. She was complaining last nite that she was itchy. And I saw a few new spots. The dr checked her over and said that she thinks it's bug bites and not chicken pox. I'm not too sure that I agree with that. She has 10 or 12 new spots in various places. A whole nest of bugs must have gotten to her at that rate and I think she would've noticed that. I'm not saying that it's chicken pox because this would be the third time for her. I'm not really sure what it could be. I am going to keep a close eye on her over the next few days. The dr wants her out of school until Wednesday and that made me wonder why if it was just bug bites would she have to stay out of school. Hmm?

Ah well..it's all in raising kids.

Football Week 4

DALLAS 35
ST.LOUIS 7

Another total annihilation! Like you're suprised? Two NFL teams are at 4-0...Dallas and Green Bay. Steelers blew it and they weren't a threat anyway.

GIANTS 16
PHILADELPHIA 3

I must say that I am surpised by this one. Giants got a record setting 12 sacks in this game. Don't get too comfy with winning - it won't last long :)
